Attractions Around Chiltern

The village of Chiltern has many attractions, originally founded as a farming community the site lead to the discovery of gold which brought prosperity and led to the construction of the settlement which stands today. The main street of Chiltern still retains it's original heritage. It's history and charm from the early era and original foundation are still prominent.

If you stand at the top of the main street and close your eyes, you can hear the sound of horses and traders plying their wares and smell the history emerge and invade your senses.

Lake Anderson Caravan Park is an ideal location for cycling groups to base themselves who wish to explore Chiltern and it's surrounds. The quiet diverse network of roads around Chiltern offer a variety of terrain for bike riders of all levels to thoroughly enjoy. After a day of riding around Chiltern and the surrounds, riders are welcomed back to Lake Anderson Caravan Park where they can enjoy the excellent facilities provided.

Bird watching enthusiasts will find an abundance of native wildlife in the area due to its unique location. Over 220 species of birds have been recorded in the area, and some rare sightings of the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot have been noted around Chiltern. The surrounding Chiltern Box-Ironbark national forests provide delightful bushwalking and cycling opportunities and an opportunity to search for these rare birds.

Not to far away are the Rutherglen Wineries as well as the heritage town of Beechworth where you can indulge in some of the regions best wines at Rutherglen and famous pastries from the Beechworth Bakery, while soaking in the history that surrounds the region.

Chiltern is renowned for fossicking, birdwatching, cycling, walking, browsing antiques and its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The local community thrive off welcoming visitors into their village to share the towns heritage.

Cafe/Bistro

Within the main street of Chiltern village is a growing choice of eateries to satisfy the fussiest of diners.  The bistro at the Telegraph hotel offers quality Aussie favorites in their bistro to the rear of the heritage hotel.  The Ironbark Tavern offers authentic Thai food three nights a week, as well as Aussie favorites with a choice of a beer garden or take away.  The Bakery always has good coffee and something Yummy on offer.  The newly opened Bird n' Bike cafe offer some quality breakfasts, lunches, coffee and soon to be evening meals.  Posh Plonk is also new and offers cafe style foods with wine tasting of all our region has to offer.

On some Tusday evenings we have a variety of food vans pull up at the entrance to our park.  Kebabs, Roast Spuds.  Ask us at the time of booking as to which one of these delicious options will be available when you stay.

All of this is within a three minute walk from our little park.
